A training workshop on Allometric Equations (AEs) for Zambian and Tanzanian forests was conducted from 10-14 December in Zambia. The training was a south-south UN-REDD training for both Zambian and Tanzanian UN-REDD technical teams.

The training workshop, funded by UN-REDD National Programs in Zambia and Tanzania, targeted participants working on biomass and carbon stock assessment, tree AEs and national forest inventory in Zambia and Tanzania.

Facilitated by a technical team from Rome and from CIRAD/INRA in France, the workshop covered both the theoretical and practical elements of AE construction, from the collection of field data to the analysis of data and the construction of mathematical representations of AEs.

An outcome from the workshop was a roadmap for the construction of AEs to complement the development of system to Measure, Report and Verify Greenhouse Gas Emissions from forest lands in Zambia and Tanzania.
