A Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) UNEP / UN-REDD Programme regional training and induction workshop was held in Panama City, 27-29 April, bringing together UNEP country focal points and country partners, UN-REDD Programme staff, UNDP national staff, and coordinators from two LAC UN-REDD Programme national programmes.

The objectives of the workshop were to introduce participants to UNEP UN-REDD Programme-supported work areas, including economic and spatial analysis, safeguards, REDD+ financing, private sector participation, and the green economy; and to discuss the contribution of these work areas to the development of REDD+ national strategies and action plans.

The workshop was well-received by participants, who were interested in new themes and information, and found the presentation of country experiences and interactive exercises on safeguards and economic and spatial analysis particularly useful.

Participants expressed interest in deepening engagement with themes related to the workshop through further online workshops and national capacity building exercises.
