The newly-formed PEB has 10 members, with the Secretary of MoEF and the United Nations Resident Coordinator as Co-chairs. Other members include Additional Secretary of MOEF, Chief Conservator of Forests, Country Director of UNDP, FAO Representative, National REDD+ Focal Point, National Project Director for UN-REDD Bangladesh; a representative of civil society organizations (CSOs), Mr. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Executive Director of the Arannayk Foundation, and a representative of indigenous peoples (IPs), and Mr. Goutam Dewan, the ex-chair of Rangamati Hill District Council.  The CSO and IP representatives were selected in March this year through self-selection process, supported by the UN-REDD Bangladesh Programme.

Earlier, in June 2016, the UN-REDD Bangladesh Programme was approved by the Government, and is now preparing its activities to meet the results and time-table set out in the National Programme Document.

The first National Programme Executive Board meeting will take place on 3 August. In its first meeting, the Board is scheduled to review and approve the TORs and Annual Work Plan for 2016. This event will be followed by an Inception Workshop of the UN-REDD Bangladesh Programme.
