The Myanmar REDD+ programme has launched a new website for those interested in learning and understanding more about their REDD+ processes and activities.

With financial and technical support from the UN-REDD Programme, the web site has been structured to provide user-friendly access and to serve as a source for information, documents, publications, and more on REDD+ processes and activities being implemented in Myanmar. Users can send comments, feedback or suggestions for improvements directly through the site.

The Myanmar REDD+ programme is governed and implemented by the Government of Myanmar with financial and technical support from different initiatives, including the UN-REDD Programme and it's three participating UN agencies; UNDP, UNEP, and FAO.

Currently in the readiness phase of the UNFCCC process, a National REDD+ Strategy is under development with the support of the UN-REDD Programme and is expected to be drafted by the end of 2016.

Additional support from the UN-REDD Programme focuses on building institutional capacities, analyzing drivers of deforestation and forest degradation, developing a National Forest Monitoring System, preparing an initial FREL, and designing interventions to reduce emissions and enhance removals of CO2 from the forest sector as the basis for receiving results-based payments.
