Description:
Experts and government representatives from 13 countries across Asia and the Pacific will meet on 12-14 September in Dehra Dun, India, to exchange experiences and best practices regarding the submission of their Forest Reference Emission Levels (FREL/FRLs) to the UNFCCC, an involved process that requires understanding national circumstances that drive emissions and removals and the adoption of reliable and transparent methodologies to measure, report and verify emissions and removals from forests. The event is intended to balance technical (on FREL/FRLs development and technical assessment) and more strategic sessions (on links between FREL/FRLs, other REDD+ elements, NDCs and objectives of REDD+ results reporting) with lessons from the global, regional and country levels. The event is co-organized by the UN-REDD Programme, Forest Service of India (FSI), ICFRE, ICIMOD and GIZ. |
