The UN-REDD Programme and the GEF Small Grants Programme are grateful for the valuable comments and perspectives shared by the contributors to the E-Consultation held between 22 September and 20 October 2019. Many of the views validated the draft Proposal while adding useful insights into how to improve and elaborate the Proposal going forward. The Proposal will be revised to reflect these important contributions. Continued engagement is welcomed and encouraged as the Proposal moves through its elaboration and design phase into implementation.

In order to protect against these potential risks while promoting benefits, seven safeguards are in place that must be supported throughout the implementation of REDD+ actions. These are known as the "Cancun safeguards", and were agreed to at the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate held in Cancun in 2010 (COP16).

Many UN-REDD partner countries are developing safeguards approaches and information systems with UN-REDD Programme support. To help share the latest information on country progress, this page includes links to workshop reports and materials (especially from 2015 onwards) as well as more formally published outputs.

This week representatives from a range of government, civil society and community organisations are meeting in Myanmar to review the country’s first Summary of Information on the safeguards.

Their introduced methodologies and tools are assisting in identifying, managing and monitoring of High Conservation Values (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) habitats and forests.

The UN-REDD Programme and the GEF Small Grants Programme would like to invite you to participate in an E-consultation on Community Based REDD+ Initiative to be held from 22nd September to 20th October to provide inputs on a potential 2nd Phase of CBR+, outlined in a Draft Proposal.

In 2013, the UN-REDD Programme established the Community-based REDD+ initiative (CBR+), one of the pioneering schemes for community action in the REDD+ domain. Its main objective was to enhance the engagement and inclusion of indigenous peoples and forest communities in national REDD+ processes, thus providing grassroots experiences and perspectives into a national policy for REDD+.

El 4 de julio de 2019 el Programa ONU-REDD de Argentina organiza en Buenos Aires el Taller de Cierre del Programa Nacional ONU-REDD.

El taller tiene como objetivo presentar los avances del país en la preparación de los pilares de REDD+ hacia la reducción de emisiones provenientes de la deforestación y de la degradación forestal, la conservación y el incremento de las reservas de carbono de los bosques, y la gestión sostenible de los mismos.

On the fourth of July 2019, the UN-REDD Programme of Argentina is organizing the Closure Event of the National UN-REDD Programme in Buenos Aires.

The event aims at presenting the advances of the country in the preparation of the REDD+ pillars towards the reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, the conservation and the increase of the carbon stock in the forests, and their sustainable management.
