National Programmes Announcements

The UN-REDD Programme will host an international workshop on 26 June, 2012 in Santa Marta, Colombia, to solicit feedback on the preliminary findings of the Programme's joint country needs assessment with the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility. In the UN-REDD Programme's August 2011 issue, read about the five UN-REDD partner countries now entering into implementation; the Policy Board’s endorsement of the UN-REDD Global Programme Framework document which provides a roadmap for global-level support to National Programmes; as well as progress updates on Indonesia, Nigeria and Zambia’s REDD+ efforts. Readers can also learn more on the UN-REDD Programme’s work in the area of gender and REDD+.

Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, the Philippines, the Solomon Islands and Paraguay have signed their National Programme Documents and received the first transfer of funds, marking the beginning of implementation of their Programmes. With this, 12 of the 13 countries with National Programmes approved by the Policy Board have finalized their National Programme Documents and entered into implementation. Read more.

The UN-REDD Programme’s latest newsletter, readers hear from partner countries, civil society organizations and donors about their evolving commitment to REDD+ and UN-REDD; Ecuador highlights next steps in developing and implementing its national REDD+ strategy; and overviews of the Programme’s draft Social and Environmental Principles and Criteria, presented at the last Policy Board meeting and of the emerging landscape on anti-corruption and REDD+ are presented.

UNDP is seeking a home-based consultant to develop a report providing guidance on the role of local governance institutions in preventing corruption risks in REDD+ in the Latin American context. Please apply on the UNDP web site here before 11 April.
